Welcome Bash & Baptism, Child Dedication Event, Work & Witness Trip
Dear Church Family,
"May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it." 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 reminds us of God's will for our lives to live a sanctified life, but it also reminds us of who is doing the sanctifying. The sanctifying work of God is an act of His grace. Sanctification is not a call to keep a checklist of the holy acts we do in a week, but instead to be so full of the Spirit that holiness flows out of our spirit, soul and body to the world around us. Being full of the Spirit means making room in our lives for His Spirit to convict and transform. Yesterday, Pastor Bryan Todd shared with us about entire sanctification and Christian holiness as we journey through the Footsteps of Faith of our church doctrine. If you weren't able to attend, listen to the link below! This week, live a life making room for the Spirit so His grace and love flow out of your life to those around you! You could be someone's burning bush!

Rise Against Hunger Event! Baptism, Child Dedication
Dear Church Family,
We have crossed the halfway point on this Footsteps of the Faith Journey and Summer Sabbatical Season. Over the last several weeks, we have heard about the Articles of Faith 1- 9. This week our focus is on 9, Justification, Regeneration, and Adoption. This is the action that God, through Jesus our At-one-ment, takes on our behalf when we decide to Repent.
Paul, writing to the Romans, helps us understand the concept of Justification found in Romans 3:26: “He (referring to Jesus) did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus. In John 3:7, the concept of Regeneration is displayed as Jesus states, “You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You[c] must be born again.” Adoption is clear in Romans 8:17, where we are called co-heirs with Jesus.
So this week, as you read and reflect on the scripture, take time to recognize what God has done for us, letting the enormity of this priceless gift sink in.
Let us continue our prayer walking and record our walks on the maps posted at each campus (Stillmeadow Lane in the Stillnaz café and York City in the foyer). Together, let’s pray for Manchester Township and York City, anticipating the transformative power of our collective prayers this summer.
In His service,
Pastor Kent

Rise Against Hunger Event!
Dear Church Family,
I pray that you had a fantastic holiday weekend. Even more important than the freedom we celebrate in this nation is the freedom we have through Jesus Christ. I talked about repentance on Sunday. There is freedom in repentance. Giving up sin and walk toward the cross brings freedom and peace into our live. God's kindness to us "is intended to turn you from your sin" (Romans 2:4). Walk continually with the Holy Spirit in that freedom. The staff is praying for you as we continue to journey through our Articles of Faith. You won't want to miss the next few weeks. We have some guest speakers coming up that are really fantastic.

Youth BBQ Chicken Dinner Fundraiser, Rise Against Hunger Event!
Dear Church Family,
God prepared the way for His Son, Jesus, to bring grace and mercy into a lost world. Throughout the Old Testament we see the need for Jesus. As Pastor Tabitha spoke about prevenient grace this week, it reminded me the path for Jesus is the same path God creates for each one of us to come to Him. Paul says in Romans 1:20, "For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse." Since creation God has been creating a path to Himself whether we knew it or not. If you are reading this and are not sure you believe God loves you and wants to spend eternity with you, He is waiting with open arms to love you and fill all the empty holes in your life. His grace is already extended through Jesus. Remember that prevenient grace is grace that is extended before we know we need it. Jesus took a chance on me before I even knew he did. That may be considered reckless by some, but that same love is extended to all. Embrace and accept it today. I look forward to a great week reflecting on His prevenient grace.

Kids & Teen Camp, Camp Fundraiser
Dear Church Family,
This past week we stormed the heights in our first all- church prayer walk. We had many stories of connection and prayer. There was a group of teenagers who met a woman who was struggling with her mulch so they stopped, mulched for her and talked with her about Stillmeadow. There were groups that prayed with people in their yards and there were groups that helped people who had fallen and offered encouragement. We all prayed and saw God's hand moving in a mighty way. We encourage each of you to continue to join in our prayer walking summer, highlight your route on the map and then share your stories with us! Let's cover Manchester Township and York City in prayer this summer and watch and see what God will do! Our next all-church prayer walk is July 16th!
Yesterday, Pastor Kent preached about sin and the atonement. John 1:29 says, "The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, 'Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!'" We know we live in a world of original sin and are tempted in our own personal sin but look, there is Jesus, who takes away the sin of the world! Jesus came as the perfect remedy that we may live a full life now, not just in eternity! May we continue to look to Him, turn away from sin, and show His perfect love to others! As we turn our eyes back to Him, may we see the world through the eyes of Jesus! As we continue our Footsteps of the Faith series, pick up a journal at the welcome desk, and journey with us through the devotional!

Dear Church Family,
The Great Commission
18 Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. 19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations,[b] baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
When I was a young teen, I realized that I loved to help around my church, especially when there was a need in the community, and as I got older found a passion for missions while traveling overseas to build a church. I loved when missionaries came to tell their stories about God’s work on the mission field. I often found myself talking to the missionaries, asking how to become one, and being reminded time after time that it would require education. I remember leaving brokenhearted because education wasn’t easy for me, and I ran from it. I never stopped loving missions though, and knew God had more.
Fast forward to today – yes, education is a part of serving God as we should always have a thirst for knowledge. What I did not know in those earlier days though was that God was teaching me the whole time - how to love and serve like Jesus - my neighbors, community, work place, my place of play – those spaces were my mission field. I also learned that if I cannot do missions in my own backyard, how hard it would be to serve overseas or in another unfamiliar space. I needed to learn to serve God where He placed me.
God continues to show me that I can’t step over people to serve people – I need to pay attention to the people around me and serve them the way that Jesus did.
We are all commissioned when we say yes to God. He gives us the same power that Jesus had to overcome the grave (Ephesians 1:19-21)! That power – His power – is in you.
Saying yes takes the power of the Holy Spirit. Allow God to help you figure out the details. A good reminder is found in Isaiah 55- His thoughts are not our thoughts, and his ways are not our ways. We can trust that He has commissioned us. We can also trust that His power lives in us and He is with us always.
So today, what has God been tugging at your heart about - maybe something that you keep running from like I did? Where is your mission field today? Go and make disciples!

Dear Church Family,
2 Timothy 3:15-17 (NIV) highlights this week's scripture focus and our belief in the Holy Scriptures.
15 and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God[a] may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Paul's words to Timothy resonate with us today. Just as Timothy was raised on the scripture (Old Testament) and its teachings led him to the Savior, we too can find inspiration and transformation in the scripture. It is a guide for us to discover and grow in our discipleship of Jesus, leading us to live truly transformed lives.
As we embark on this summer’s Footsteps of Faith Sabbatical Journey, I invite you to seize this opportunity to deepen your faith. Let's prepare to record our prayer walks on the maps posted at each campus (Stillmeadow Lane in the Stillnaz café and York City in the foyer). Together, let’s cover Manchester Township and York City in prayer, anticipating the transformative power of our collective prayers this summer.
In His service,

Summer Prayer Journal, Camps and Retirement Class
Dear Church Family,
Yesterday we began the Sabbatical journey by enjoying and experiencing the Triune God together through worship and the breaking of bread. As part of my departing thoughts, I shared a modified version of the blessing that I offer to my children every night. Receive these in the love that I have for you. Until we meet again…
May the Love of the Father,
Mercy of the Son,
And Presence of the Spirit
guide you this summer.
(Make a circle on your hand) May the circle remind you
of His eternal love,
(Make a cross on your palm) May the cross remind you
of the greatest expression of that love,
(Clasp your hands together) May the embrace remind you
of the joy we share in Him.
And check out the worship service we shared yesterday at the Stillmeadow Lane Service.

Sabbatical Send Off, Summer Camps, Women’s Bible Study
Dear Church Family,
Yesterday we concluded our “Renew” series on Sabbath, leading up to my summer Sabbatical (June 3-August 18). We dwelled on the gift that Sabbath Rest is…especially as shared by Jesus in Mark 2:27: “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.”
In other words, God made Sabbath as a day of delight for humans. He did not make it as a drudgery for humans to have to endure. The intention of practicing Sabbath with and like Jesus is to form us into people who are non-anxious in an anxious world, rested in an exhausted culture, and generous in a selfish atmosphere. So, if you haven’t already, here’s the five basic tips to practice Sabbath delight with Jesus:
1. Identify a 12-24 hour block of time to rest
2. Prepare ahead of time for that time of rest
3. Make a Sabbath List of YES and NO
4. Write a list of delights
5. Make a list of ways you can give rest to others
And check out the Stillmeadow Lane Service and the York City Campus Service recordings.
I encourage you to follow the Daily Readings and Reflections. In a very real way, daily reading and prayer is a way to remember that Jesus is Lord of Rest.
Listen to what the Lord of the Sabbath says:
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)

Childcare Sunday, Grad Sunday, VBS
Dear Church Family,
Yesterday we continued our “Renew” series on Sabbath, leading up to my summer Sabbatical (June 3-August 18). In our sermon text for the morning, we briefly touched on Hebrews 3:13, but I wanted to bring our attention back to it today.
But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.
Let’s do that. As people who have put their faith in Jesus, we are children of the Living God, inhabited by the Spirit of God, which means that our words carry a holy weight. Send a text, call a friend, grab some coffee, and encourage someone today.
And check out the Stillmeadow Lane Service and the York City Campus Service recordings.

FYI: We’re moving our weekly emails to Mondays! You’ll find the things we highlighted on Sunday right in here!
Yesterday we began “Renew” our series on Sabbath, leading up to my summer Sabbatical (June 3-August 18). We were made in the image of the God who rested and who invites us into His rest. Truly, we need to “catch our breath” in Him.
Check out the Stillmeadow Lane Service and the York City Campus Service recordings.
I encourage you to follow the Daily Readings and Reflections. In a very real way, daily reading and prayer is a way to “catch our breath” with Him.
Psalm 116:7 says:

Youth Quarterly, Touch a Truck and next Financial Class
Dear Church Family,
What a wonder it was to celebrate our Resurrected Savior and witness 20 baptisms on Easter Sunday! Check out the Stillmeadow Lane Service and the York City Campus Service recordings and relive the moments.
Paul encourages the church in Colossae with these words: “just as you receive Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness” (Col 2:6-7). And then says, “you died with Christ to the elemental spiritual forces of this world” (2:20) and “you have been raised with Christ” (3:1). Now, let’s live out the baptized life, the one that died and been raised with Christ, our Crucified and Resurrected Savior! He conquered death so we can live in Him, now and forever.
Follow the Daily Readings and Reflections
Each week we provide reflection questions and daily scriptures for personal and family growth beyond Sundays. Daily reading scripture is an essential way to live out the baptized life!

“Don’t be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. HE HAS RISEN! He is not here. See the place where they laid him. But go, tell his disciples and Peter, ‘He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.’” Mark 16:6-7

Special Announcement About Pastor Rachel Zeigler
Dear Stillmeadow Family,
I write this with a hope-filled heart on God’s future for His church. This Easter morning, Hagerstown Church of the Nazarene, our sister church on the Mid-Atlantic District, announced that our very own Pastor Rachel Zeigler has accepted the call to be their lead pastor.
Please see a brief video announcement from Pastor Rachel here.
This is a bittersweet announcement. We are so grateful for the season of life and ministry we have had with Pastor Rachel and her husband Ben. Rachel has attended Stillmeadow since 2001, served since 2003, been employed at Stillmeadow since 2011, received her district license in 2019 and ordination in 2022. Through all that, she and Ben have also had their three incredible children (Abby, Luke and Jacob) who have also left their mark on us. We are going to miss them all in York. But as God continues to lead the Zeiglers, He will continue to lead our kids and families and kids ministry team.
Celebrations
We are planning a time of celebration and sending at Stillmeadow. Plus, Hagerstown will have an installation service and we think it’d be awesome to show our support there. Both of those dates are yet to be chosen, but we will be sure to let you know when they are so you can join us in honoring her time of service and cheering her on in the next season.
UPDATE: Pastor Rachel’s Farewell Send Off Potluck is April 28, 5-7PM at Stillmeadow
What’s next for Stillnaz Kids Ministry?
This announcement means that we are moving into a new season for our kids ministry. This season will feature four basic overlapping phases. As we go through this season, we will be intentional about keeping you informed about the process (farewell party, interviews, etc).
Phase 1: Farewell Celebrations and Grieving
Phase 2: Interim Prayer Season
Phase 3: Search Season
Phase 4: Welcome and Integration of New Leader
Prayer
Join me in prayer through these phases.
…for the Zeigler’s and Hagerstown Church of the Nazarene.
…for the kids and their families.
…for the yet to be determined interim leader and kids ministry team and volunteers.
…for the yet to be determined permanent leader.
Need to talk?
If you have memories or questions or ideas or concerns through this season, please feel free to reach out to Rachel (pastorrachel@stillnaz.com) or Josh (pastorjosh@stillnaz.com).
Grace and Peace through Christ our Rock, the Head of the body of believers, and our Guide for the Road,
Pastor Josh
Good Friday, Easter and VBS2024
Dear Church Family,
Now, for today’s Lenten Devotional from Lorraine Lauer.
John 13: 8b~Jesus replied, “Unless I wash you, you won’t belong to me.”
I witnessed two foot washing ceremonies in my life that have truly impacted me in a powerful way. The first time was at my daughter’s wedding in 2020 and the second time was at Stillmeadow’s Maundy Thursday Lenten Service in 2023.
I used to view foot washing as an outdated “religious ritual.” And if I’m brutally honest, I’m ashamed to say that I thought it was a rather gross practice to get down and clean someone’s feet. However, now that I have a better understanding of this custom, I’m happy to say that I embrace the absolute pure beauty of this sacrificial practice. God is teaching me the importance of humility and pure servanthood.
The early Christian church introduced this custom for us to imitate the humility and selfless love of Jesus, who washed His disciple’s feet at the Last Supper. If we desire to partner with Jesus to love and serve better, we must allow Him to wash our dirty feet clean to walk in humility to build His Kingdom. HE is our only hope to walk righteously and clean.
Are you willing to humble yourself to serve your world sacrificially this Lenten season and beyond?
What is God calling you to surrender in humility today?
Lorraine Lauer
PS…here are other ways to engage the Lenten Season
Good Friday Service
Tuesday and Wednesday night we walked through the first 9 stations of the cross and on Good Friday we will walk through the final 5 into the tomb with Jesus. Join us at 7PM on Good Friday (March 29) on our Stillmeadow Lane Campus for a time of powerful prayer and reflection on the price God paid for us.
Easter Services on Sunday
And on Easter morning, let us celebrate that Christ has risen! We have prepared for 10+ baptisms at each of our services and are looking forward with great anticipation for what God has in store for each of us!
Bring a friend and join us at 9:00 and 10:30 at our Stillmeadow Lane Campus or 11 at our York City Campus!

Pray for Jonathan Phillips our missionary to Romania:
Jonathan just began a Sabbatical. He asks: “Please pray that this will be a time of rest and restoration, focusing on my relationship with God, so that I will feel refreshed and ready to resume activities when I return to Romania at the end of June. (That sentence has way too many words that begin with the letters “re”!) Pray for ministries and administrative tasks in Romania, that they will continue without any problems during my absence.”
Prayerfully Give: Most sabbatical-related expenses are covered by a generous donation received by Global Missions designated for missionary sabbaticals. However, Jonathan is still responsible for covering some of the expenses. Of course, this is in addition to raising his normal expenses as a sponsored missionary. Since he is taking a sabbatical in place of home assignment this year, he will not be in the US to raise funds until 2025. If you wish to make a donation to his deputation account give to stillnaz.com/give and select Jonathan Phillips.
Give with us
Joy Boxes on Sundays!
On Sundays at the Stillmeadow Lane Campus, we will be receiving our physical offerings through our Joy Boxes at the two entrances to our Family Life Center. You may give when you enter for worship or when you exit to serve the world. This will replace the receiving of offerings by passing the baskets in the middle of our worship services. And it will be similar to the way offerings were received in Jesus’ day! Read Luke 21:1-4 for an example of giving. May we give with the generous and sacrificial spirit of the poor widow that Jesus lifted up in that passage.
Help Us Collect 100 Tubes of Toothpaste
Hooray! We met our goal of 900 toothbrushes for the district assembly Crisis Care Kit assembly party, so we signed up to collect 100 individual 4.0-6.4 oz tubes of toothpaste! Bring those to the compassion room. If you already purchased toothbrushes, just bring those in as well!
And if you want to make a Crisis Care Kit yourself, here are the instructions.

Throughout the year we will be offering a financial stewardship series with one-time classes on different financial topics. Check out the information on the flyer below!

Condolences
To Jody Nitchman & Family. Jody’s mother, Joan Plitt passed away March 7th, and her father, John Plitt passed away March 11th.
I conclude this message with our theme verse for the Lenten Series:
“For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it.” Mark 8:35
Let’s save our lives by losing them for Him and His gospel…
