A Nite Together, Kids Night Out, Child Dedication, Gather25

Dear Stillmeadow Family,

Yesterday’s message highlighted how God used a dysfunctional family with imperfect people to bring his perfect Son into the world to create a new family of all people. It is a profound reminder that those Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Joseph may be heroes of the faith, but they are not the object of our faith. We do not put our trust in our family line, but our family leader, Jesus Christ.

This has implications for our own biological families and for our spiritual family. Our hope is not in our parents nor in our children, but in the God of the world. Our hope is not in the church, but in the head of the church, Jesus Christ.

I really appreciated Terrence Fretheim’s observation on the storyline of Abraham’s family: “God is the only one who has been active in the story with a constant good purpose from beginning to end -- that there might be life for all.”

In OurStory we have an active, constant, good and life-giving God made known perfectly in the Son Jesus Christ and lovingly revealed by the Spirit. Whatever dysfunction you have inherited or passed on, God’s goodness is greater and he has healing and redemption for you and those you have impacted. Let’s trust his promises and be amazed at his work.

Trusting his promises and grateful for you!
