During the Days Between Ash Wednesday (March 5) and Easter (April 20), we are calling Christians in York to unified prayer for York.

We agree with Paul’s conclusion that “our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms” (Ephesians 6:12). Which is why we are calling the church to “pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests” (Ephesians 6:18).

Below you will find a daily prayer focus for each day of the Lenten season.

Church Leaders: we encourage you to pray together with your people over the requests for the week.

Families and Individuals: We encourage you to incorporate the daily prayer focus in your regular prayer time at home.

As you follow the Spirit’s lead in prayer, consider these steps:

1. Choose a scripture to pray over. Here are some suggestions: Ephesians 3:14-21, 1 Peter 5:6-10, Colossians 3:12-14

2. On those days when the category of prayer includes someone you know (i.e. when we pray for teachers and you have a teacher friend), take time to send an encouragement or ask if there is any way you can pray for that person.
