Tools for Prayer, Chili Cookoff, Night 2Gether

Happy New Year Church Family,

Keep asking…

In Luke 11 and Matthew 7, when Jesus says, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you” he’s encouraging his disciples to be persistent. It’s like he’s saying, “Ask again and again; seek and keep on seeking; knock until the door opens.” Remember, all Jesus’ advice on prayer is essentially advice on relationship with God. So, he’s saying, “Stick with God and you’ll find what you’re looking for.”

Ways to be persistent in asking, seeking, knocking…

Pastor Rachel shared some great ideas on how to grow in your prayer relationship with God in her message on Sunday (January 21). Here are some more practical ways.

  1. Keep a Prayer List. Write down your prayer requests and revisit them daily. You can do this in the notes section of your phone or use the Echo Prayer App to remind you.

  2. Write down the names of your neighbors to pray for them. I have found the Bless Every Home website to be helpful, because they send me daily reminders with names of my neighbors and ways to pray.

  3. Pray for York. We have a prayer guide at www.stillnaz.com/pray, where you can also submit any prayer requests that you have so we can pray with you.

  4. Pray around the globe. You can get weekly emails for updates and ways to pray for our Nazarene brothers and sisters by subscribing to the Nazarene Missions Prayer Mobilization Line. You can also get monthly updates with Stillmeadow’s Harvest Prayer or pray with the Harvest Prayer team on the fourth Sunday of every month during the 10:30 service.

Follow the Daily Readings and Reflections

With our current series on prayer, we encourage you to use the reflection questions and daily scriptures for personal and family growth.
