Numbers: Wilderness Wanderings

WATCH THE SERVICE

Numbers 10:11-14:45, 1 Corinthians 10:1-13

Reflection Questions:

  1. Meditate on a word, verse or phrase from Psalm 54.

  2. Read one of the stories in Numbers 10:11-14:45. How do you see the people moving away from God? What are some of the distrusts that tempt you to move away from Jesus? How does this distrust build?

  3. When the spies come back. How does the ten spies’ distrust spread?

  4. Notice the movement of God’s people. They never stay still. They are either moving with God toward His promises or moving against God toward the wilderness. How does God guide them to move with Him?

  5. Is there a place God is asking you to move? Is there a wilderness space you have found yourself in?

  6. According to 1 Corinthians 10:1-13, why does this occur in Israel’s history?

  7. All throughout Numbers, God is guiding and delivering. Are you trusting God and His guidance? How can you ask Him for deliverance?

  8. Why do you think they resist God? How do you resist Him? Why did they choose the wilderness over the promised land?

  9. Reflect on this: are you one of the two spies who have surrendered your spaces of distrust and aligned your movement with God or are you living in those spaces or distrust and moving them toward others?

  10. How did the people’s time in the wilderness teach them how to walk and move with God? How was He still faithful?

  11. Take a moment to name and remember the times of God’s promise and faithfulness in your life. How can remembering those promises help you live in the promised land and move with God, trusting His hand?
