Dear Church,

We’re journeying through advent with stories from our community. Read part of Lorraine Lauer’s encouragement from today’s devotional below.

Are you living in a place called hope?

Or do you prepare for the worst and HOPE for the best? Many of us want to live in HOPE, but we get caught up in living with the “glass half empty” mentality. Living with the “glass half full” mentality or living in HOPE seems “risky.” Therefore, we prepare for disappointment rather than God’s best.  

In my faith walk, the Lord is teaching me to run to Him rather than anything or anyone else. Have you prayed about it as much as you worry or complain about it? Our HOPE and peace come through faith walking and intimately communicating with Abba Father on a regular basis. It is so easy for us to be tempted to “vent” to one another rather than to “bother” God with our concerns. He longs to hear from His children, and His Holy word commands us to pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17). As I’m learning to pray more intentionally and seek Him in all things, He is teaching me to be still and pray while breathing Him in and out continually throughout my day. I challenge you on this day to embrace HOPE and allow the Holy Spirit to lead, guide and direct you to HIS perfect peace.

2022 Christmas Schedule

This is a good season to invite family and friends to join you in worship. Prayerfully consider who you can invite and bring along.

December 11 — Happy Birthday Jesus Party in Kids Ministry

December 18 — Special Christmas Music Presentation at Stillmeadow Lane (contact Pastor John at pastorjohn@stillnaz.com if you’d like to be in choir or the band)

December 20 — Stillnaz Youth Christmas Party (7PM)

December 24 — Christmas Eve Worship, 4PM at York City Campus, 7PM at Stillmeadow Lane Campus

December 25 — Christmas Morning Worship, 10AM at Stillmeadow Lane, 11AM at York City

January 1 — Sabbath Sunday (online worship only)

Church Board Elections

Sunday, December 4th after each service we will be electing nominees to the church board.   All members over the age of 15 can vote (age 13 and older can vote for NYI president).  There is a flyer available at the Welcome Center with nominee information and pictures to assist you to prepare and to pray.  

Serve at Habitat for Humanity (Dec 8)

We’ve got another Faith Build on December 8, from 8:00AM-2:30PM. Join us in Dover to make a difference in a families life. Check in with Sue Cox at s-cox@comcast.net for details on how to sign up.

Storynight: A Human Library Experience (Dec 11)

A Human Library is an event where people come to listen to people’s stories and have an opportunity to discuss. The purpose of this event is to connect our church family from both campuses.

Cadence Kleinfeld, a sophomore at York Academy, is hosting this as a part of a year-long personal project. Storynight will be 6 PM-8 PM on December 11th. There will be 3 sessions to hear 3 stories, followed by a time of fellowship with cookies.

Christmas Card Exchange

Let's share the love with Christmas greetings this season.

We'll have boxes in the cafe where you can drop cards for Stillmeadow family, our shut-ins and for our local police. We’ll have a list of names of Stillmeadow folks who are unable to get out as much so that you can write a card to bless them. And we’ll have a place for you to express your appreciation to our local police department as well.

The boxes will be out from Dec 4-25, but we'll be delivering the cards for shut-ins and police the week before Christmas, so those cards are due by Dec 18.

Bob and Thelma Kramer and family upon the loss of his father Robert Kramer Sr on November 17.

Peggy Burkholder and family upon the loss of her husband Tom on November 8.

Danielle Robinson and family upon the loss of her father Rick Robinson on November 2.

The Alton family on the loss of their son, Joshua Jason Miggs Alton on November 29. This family is part of our MidAtlantic Nazarene District.

PS…THANK YOU to all who gave in various ways over the last couple weeks. We had 40+ join in the Journey House Paint Night and raised over $1000 for Journey House. Between the prayer shawl ministry and youth ministry we packed 38 Crisis Care Kits. And our youth raised over $13,000 to fight hunger during their 30 Hour Famine!
