Advent Begins Soon, Foster Care Initiative, Thanksgiving Dinner Help

Dear Church,

ADVENT BEGINS ON NOVEMBER 27

It’s the season of waiting and longing, the season of lights in the darkness. And we want to engage in the Advent Season well as a church family. Here are three ways you can prepare with us.

JOIN US IN WORSHIP THIS SUNDAY FOR OUR SPECIAL FAMILY ADVENT EXPERIENCE

This Sunday, November 20, we will have the Family Advent Experience with children and youth in our worship services to help us prepare as families for Advent 2022.

The advent devotional is FULL of God-stories from Stillmeadow family members. We will have physical copies available this Sunday and you can have them sent to your email inbox by clicking the button below.

WORSHIP ON CHRISTMAS BECAUSE IT’S ON A SUNDAY THIS YEAR

We’re planning a special service at 10 on our Stillmeadow Lane Campus and 11 at our York City Campus. We won’t have the opportunity to celebrate Christmas on a Sunday again until 2033!

My Prayer:

God, you are the best story-writer ever, bringing peace into an anxious world, restoring hope where there is despair, raising joy where there is sorrow, replacing hate with love. Jesus, you are the author and perfecter of our faith, and we ask that you help us trust you with our stories. Spirit, guide us through the Advent Season, softening our hearts to your voice, directing our eyes to see where peace, hope, joy and love needs to be shared.

On Sunday, we stood and prayed for children and families involved in the foster care system. God invites us to join Him in caring for vulnerable children. We are committed to supporting foster parents through this Foster Care Initiative and would love for more and more people (single, married, retired, working, young, old) to be involved. StrengthFinders Training

God made you in His image; Strengths is a method to discover how you are made. You are invited to this all-day training event to understand your Strengths, discover more about yourself, and how these Strengths affect all phases of your life.

Youth Gift Card Fundraiser

Stillnaz Youth Ministry is holding a Gift Card Fundraiser! Take advantage of this "one stop shop" to purchase gift cards just in time for your Christmas giving, while supporting our teens so they can attend events like NYC and Teen Camp. Please see a teen or visit the Welcome Table in the Stillmeadow Lane Campus lobby on Sunday Mornings to place your order. Gift cards will be arrive by December 13.


Help at the Thanksgiving Meal this Sunday

Join us for our Community Dinner! This is a great way for families and small groups to serve together with people across our church and from other community churches. You can help serve in the kitchen, on the food line, with clean up, in the parking lot, as a greeter! You can help at the following 2 hour time slots:
8am-10am, 9am-11am, 10am-12pm, 11am-1pm, 1 - 3 pm, 3-5pm

Help For Refugees

The New American Welcome Center (NAWC) is helping many refugee families (read how they're helping here) and can use two kinds of assistance. First, they are looking for children's winter coats (0-18). Second, they are looking for full or queen size mattresses and bed frames so these families do not have to sleep on the floor. If you have coats, you can bring them to the church compassion closet (outside the family life center). If you have a bed, please contact Deb Deztel at the NAWC at (717) 819-0180.

PS…THANK YOU to all who gave in various ways over the last couple weeks. We had 40+ join in the Journey House Paint Night and raised over $1000 for Journey House. Between the prayer shawl ministry and youth ministry we packed 38 Crisis Care Kits. And our youth raised over $13,000 to fight hunger during their 30 Hour Famine!
