Pray for those outside the faith, Nominate for church board

Dear Church,

Does God speak to people outside the faith?

Read Daniel 4 and you’ll see how God spoke to the pagan king Nebuchadnezzar. So yes!

What does it mean that God speaks to those outside the faith?

When Daniel showed up to help Nebuchadnezzar understand his dream, he was coming after God had worked in the king’s life. And when we show up in people’s lives, we are showing up to someone that God has been reaching out to before we came along.

What do we do with that?

Well, I think it means that we need to pray for God to show up to our friends and family members outside of the faith. Pray that they would be confused by what God spoke to them and that they would seek understanding. We know that those who ask, seek and knock, will be answered, find and have the door opened to them (Matthew 7:7-8). And it could very well be that we have the chance to be like Daniel and be the one to help them find the answer and open the door of faith.

Challenge:

  1. Make a list of friends and family who are outside the faith. Regularly pray for the people on the list.

  2. Watch for opportunities to point to God. Pray that God will open your eyes to see the opportunity and give you the wisdom and strength to share your faith.

  3. Trust God to do His work. The reason Daniel had such an impact is because he trusted God as the Most High power in the universe.

Prayer:

Jesus, reveal yourself to all who are reading this and all in our church community. Most High God, give dreams to our friends and family members and even our political leaders in the way you spoke to King Nebuchadnezzar. And Spirit, would you open our eyes to see the open doors for the gospel to be shared and would you fill our hearts with love and wisdom to share the good news.

DO YOU HAVE NOMINATIONS FOR CHURCH ELECTIONS?

On Sunday November 13, we will have our annual church board elections. Each Nazarene church is directed "to elect as church officers active members of the local church who profess the experience of entire sanctification and whose lives bear public witness to the grace of God that calls us to a holy life; who are in harmony with the doctrines, polity, and practices of the Church of the Nazarene; and who support the local church faithfully in attendance, active service, and with tithes and offerings. Church officers should be fully engaged in “making Christlike disciples in the nations.”"  (For the rest of the manual statement) Stillmeadow board members serve three year terms.

If you have nominations, you may submit them on this form by September 28. Our nomination committee will review the nominees and then contact them to see if they will allow their name to run for election.
