Pray for Kids Camp, Welcome Bash is in 24 days!
Dear friends,
As I read Mark 3:1-6 this morning I was struck by these three thoughts.
I need to beware of having a stubborn and shriveled heart.
I need to be aware of my need for a soft and restored heart.
I need Jesus to soften and restore my heart.
The symptoms of a stubborn heart
The stubborn hearts of the Pharisees were more diseased than the man with the shriveled hand. They resisted God’s movement, ignored the needs of others and opposed Jesus’ healing.
When I find my rest or find my identity in anything less than Jesus, I too am prone to a stubborn heart. With a stubborn heart I am irritated by others’ needs, I will seek to escape my problems with substances or shows or job performance, or I will hold a judgmental attitude towards others.
Pray for soft and restored hearts
As we go about our everyday lives, let us be honest with ourselves and Jesus about where we are stubborn. Let us confess our need for the Spirit to soften our hearts and ask Him to restore our shriveled imaginations. And let’s show evidence of a heart being restored by serving others in their need.
Pray for the Kids at Kids Camp
Our kids and pre-teens are wrapping up their week at camp today and tomorrow. Pray for them and the workers, asking God to speak to their young hearts as He spoke to Josiah and Jeremiah in their youth.
