Jesus links our privilege of being forgiven by God to our responsibility to forgive those who offend us. In Luke 11:4, the correlation is just stated “forgive us . . . for we also forgive everyone.” In Matthew 6:14-15, after Jesus teaches the fundamentals of prayer in seven petitions, the only petition that elicits his added emphasis and explanation was the one having to do with asking God for forgiveness. Nazarene New Testament scholar Roger Hahn noted that “verses 14-15 amplify this point and make it clear that forgiveness from God will be forfeited if we refuse to forgive those who have offended us.”1 Nelson Mandela insightfully said before he left prison, “As I stand before the door of my freedom, I realize that if I do not leave my pain, anger and bitterness behind me, I will still be in prison.” Forgiveness means letting go. Our release from guilt by God is simply inextricably linked to our letting go of the pain, anger, and bitterness we hold toward those who have wronged us.
Today’s Prayer
Father, in the name of Jesus, who asked for forgiveness for those crucifying him, please forgive my sins and fill me with the Spirit of Christ so that I, like Christ, will be able to forgive those who hurt me deeply.
Missions Prayer Emphasis for May & June-Asia Pacific
Because we want to be people who pray relentlessly, we cover the earth with our prayers through the year. For May and June, we’re asking God to provide for, protect and direct the work of these missionaries and to pour out His Spirit of justice, grace and truth over these countries in the Asia Pacific region of the Church of the Nazarene.

BUILDING TRANSITION UPDATE
Did you know that over the last 84 years of ministry in York (we were formally organized in 1938), we have had 7* different locations for Sunday adult worship? 1 on George Street, 1 on Princess Street, 3 different sanctuaries on Pine Street, and now 2 on Stillmeadow Lane. As God was faithful through all of those transitions, we believe He is being faithful in our current transition at our Stillmeadow Lane Campus.
In the last two years, we discovered new ways to more effectively use our Stillmeadow Lane campus. We can provide greater security and flow for our children’s ministries by having them worship in the Worship Center and meet on the east side of the building. This means we have moved adults to the 7th location for worship in the Family Life Center on the west side of the building.
We are grateful to the volunteers, staff and the trustees of our board that are working together to update the building. Over the next couple weeks we’re cleaning out storage closets, taking things off the walls and updating our new adult worship space. As we grow, so does our need for storage. As we continue Christ’s mission, we are updating our walls to tell the story and mission of Jesus to All Generations.

As we follow Him through these transitions, pray with us that God will continue to reach people of every age, race and gender with His grace through our ministries. Pray with Jesus that we will be unified in following Him and making Him known to our community.

The Family of Deborah Vaughn (attended York City Campus)-Deb passed away on April 24th.
