Baptism, Easter Egg Scramble, Toothpaste Collection

Dear Church Family,

Cool story: We wanted to collect 900 toothbrushes for Crisis Care Kits and we’ve already collected over 1000! So we’re now collecting 100 tubes of toothpaste. Read more below.

And if you missed last night’s Mid-Week Lenten Service presented by the BMA at Shiloh Baptist Church, you can tune in on their Facebook page.

Now, for today’s Lenten Devotional from Pastor Tabitha. (If you haven’t signed up for daily devotional emails, sign up here.)

Reflecting on Genesis 9:8-17

My daughter had a beautiful snow globe I had bought her for her birthday that played “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” It was special to both of us. We even have a picture of me giving it to her when she turned 6 years old. One day her and her brother were having fun in her room and with a swipe of an arm, the snow globe was knocked down, shattered on the floor. Her tears were the kind of tears that make a mother’s whole body hurt. I cried alongside her as we picked up each piece of the glass. After we cleaned up the glass and soaked up the water, we looked at the snow globe as a new creation. It was now a unicorn that we could touch, not surrounded by water and glass but that still played “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.”

In Genesis, God grieves over the pain in the world. He feels the grief of a parent over the brokenness of the world. And then the snow globe shatters and God sends the flood. However, He doesn’t wipe away all of creation but He wipes creation clean. He re-creates it. It is an act of God seeking us and wanting us to come back to the perfection He created for us.

Then He doesn’t have to play “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” but instead hangs a rainbow in the sky to promise us that He seeks to re-create us and draw us into harmony. God still seeks for you to know you are a new creation that He has wiped clean. He calls us to live into this freedom, to pick up the broken pieces, and to see ourselves as His new creation and sing “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.”

  • Do you see yourself as a new creation in Jesus?

~~Pastor Tabitha Martin~~

Baptisms on Easter

Have you given your life to Jesus? The next step is to be baptized!

Baptism is the ancient symbol of the church to recognize that a person has been cleansed of their sins, has died to their old way of life and has been raised to Jesus’ way of life. For the baptized it is an opportunity to say “I am all in” to the way of Jesus.

We want to celebrate your new life in Christ with baptism on Easter Sunday. If you have questions, you can ask pastorjosh@stillnaz.com. And you can sign up at www.stillnaz.com/baptism.

But our hearts are still heavy because 1.8 billion Muslims are still living without a saving relationship with Jesus Christ.” Let’s join others in praying for Muslims to come awake to Jesus’ love and give their lives to Him.

You can find out more and subscribe to daily Ramadan emails here.

Give with us

Joy Boxes on Sundays!

On Sundays at the Stillmeadow Lane Campus, we will be receiving our physical offerings through our Joy Boxes at the two entrances to our Family Life Center. You may give when you enter for worship or when you exit to serve the world. This will replace the receiving of offerings by passing the baskets in the middle of our worship services. And it will be similar to the way offerings were received in Jesus’ day! Read Luke 21:1-4 for an example of giving. May we give with the generous and sacrificial spirit of the poor widow that Jesus lifted up in that passage.

Help Us Collect 100 Tubes of Toothpaste

And if you want to make a Crisis Care Kit yourself, here are the instructions.

Thank you notes to the church…

Thank you for your faithful support and prayers of God’s work in and through me in Papua, New Guinea. I was always thankful for the monthly prayer requests knowing folks were praying for me. As my missionary career is ending, I just wanted to take the time to say thank you. I trust another missionary will be just as blessed by your prayers as I was. May God continue to watch over you. Erin Meier

We are grateful for the love prayers and support from our church family as we journeyed through my mother’s illness and eventual home going. The Lord has been so faithful and many of you have been instruments of that faithfulness. We also cherished the flowers as they have brought cheer to our days, We are blessed to call Stillmeadow our home. With grateful hearts, Jennifer Stough & Family

I conclude this message with our theme verse for the Lenten Series:

“For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it.” Mark 8:35

Let’s save our lives by losing them for Him and His gospel…
