Baptisms, Emotionally Healthy Relationships and Finances, Easter Egg Scramble
Dear Stillmeadow Family,
Be encouraged by Jonathan Boyer’s Lenten Devotional today…
Scripture: Joshua 22-24, Psalm 69
The middle of today’s reading is Joshua’s recital of how God intervened in Israel’s placement in the land he promised to their ancestors. He charged Israel to faithfully obey the Torah of God just as he was charged to obey Torah, God’s law, as they entered the promised land. I was struck by “. . .not one of all the good promises the LORD your God gave you has failed.” (23.14).
God’s promises will not fail because he does not fail.
Israel failed. We fail.
But God does not fail.
Israel must believe God’s promise of the land, living out their believing by obeying. If Israel did not obey they were not doing their part to receive what God wanted to give them and had provided for them. The same is true for us. Obedience demonstrates trust. Obedience positions us to be where we can receive the best God has for us. Jesus said: “If you love me, you will obey what I command.” (John 14.15)
What has Jesus been telling you to do, but for whatever reason, you haven’t done?
Blessing: May today be that day when you show him and yourself you truly trust him and love him.
“I praise your holy name, O God, in song and glorify you with thanksgiving.” Psalm 69.30
