Scripture: Isaiah 7:10-16, Matthew 1:18-25, Psalm 80:1-7, 17-19

 

Message Reflection Questions

  1. Begin with silent prayer to center your heart. Pray Psalm 80:19 aloud to begin.

  2. What causes people to lose faith in God and to stop trusting Him?

  3. What is the difference between Ahaz in Isaiah 7:10-16 and Joseph in Matthew 1:18-25?

  4. What does it say about God that He would give a sign to Ahaz in Isaiah 7 that would be fulfilled in Matthew 1:18-25?

  5. How does God show faithfulness and love in Isaiah 7:10-16 and Matthew 1:18-25?

  6. Why is the concept of “Immanuel” (God with us) important to our Christian faith?

  7. How is faithfulness (to God and to others) an expression of love?

  8. What difficult circumstances or decisions are you facing where you need “God with us” to help?

  9. Close by naming those who need help and praying Psalm 80:19 over them.

Helpful Instructions for reading

  1. Start with silence. Relax in God’s presence. Imagine resting with Jesus.

  2. Thank God for something that happened in the last 24 hours.

  3. Read the verses slowly. 

  4. Finish in prayer for yourself, your family, your neighbors, your co-workers, your church.
