The Rebellion of Sin

WATCH THE SERVICE

Genesis 3, Genesis 4-11, Psalm 25:4-11

Reflection Question

  1. Meditate on a word, verse or phrase from Psalm 25:4-11.

  2. Read Genesis 3:1-7. Why did Adam and Even fall to temptation?

  3. What are the results of sin revealed in Genesis 3:7-24?

  4. Now consider the infectious nature of sin in Genesis 4-11. See Genesis 4:6-8, 4:23-24, 6:5, 6:11-12, 9:20-25, and 11:1-9. How do you see the infectious nature of sin today?

  5. Read 2 Corinthians 5:21 and Isaiah 53:5 for God’s response to sin.

  6. Read 1 Corinthians 10:13 and see how we can avoid repeating Adam and Eve’s mistake of falling to temptation.

  7. Living in sin is living in rebellion against the King so it’s no surprise that Jesus would incorporate regular requests for forgiveness in the Lord’s Prayer. What sin do you need to repent of and need help overcoming?

  8. Return to Psalm 25:4-11. If you are in a place of distrusting or outright rebelling against the God who loves you, this is an opportunity to humbly return and receive his direction. If you are walking consistently trusting the Lord, this is an opportunity to reaffirm your commitment to trusting His instruction in all things. What is God saying to you?
