Reflection Questions

  1. Reflect on Psalm 89:1-8.

  2. Read the classic scene in 1 Samuel 16:1-13. What does this reveal about God’s process of leadership selection?

  3. Let’s compare and contrast the character traits of Saul and David in two stories. What character traits does Saul show in 1 Samuel 15:1-29? What character traits does David show in 1 Samuel 24:1-22?

  4. Jump to the New Testament to explore Paul’s description of Jesus’ way of leadership in Philippians 2:1-8. How does this compare to Saul and David’s character traits in the stories above?

  5. As you consider what’s been explored, what is God drawing your heart to do?

  6. Prayer: Take time to pray for our local, state and federal leaders. Ask God to develop the servant-hearted nature of Jesus in you.
