 Reflection Questions

Begin with a prayer pause. Read Psalm 146:3-9. Choose a line to meditate on for 2 minutes.

  1. What is your experience and understanding of the housing crisis our community and country faces? What do you believe is God’s purpose for the church in light of this crisis?

  2. Read Ruth 1:1-22. What stands out to you about Naomi’s suffering?

  3. How does Ruth’s life look like the life Jesus led?

  4. Read Philippians 2:5-8. How does this compare to Ruth’s life?

  5. How does Ruth’s service to Naomi and Jesus’ service to humanity help us live out the second part of the great commandment: love your neighbor as yourself (Mark 12:28-34)?

  6. Is the great commission of Matthew 28:18-20 greater than the great commandments of Mark 12:28-34? How do the two work together in the life of a disciple?

  7. How is serving others (building homes, welcoming orphans, serving people in prison, etc.) a continuation of the great commission?

  8. Close in prayer. Ask God to help you determine what needs to change in your life to better serve your community. Think of and pray for those who are like Naomi in your life.
