 Reflection Questions

Begin with a prayer pause, recognizing that our times are in God’s hands (Psalm 31:15) and that He has set eternity in our hearts (Ecclesiastes 3:11).

  1. What is your favorite season? What is your favorite “clue” that the season is coming or has arrived?

  2. Read Mark 7:24-37 from the perspective of the mother and the crowd. What do you notice about Jesus?

  3. Read the passage again from the perspective of the daughter and the healed man. What is receiving Jesus’ mercy like?

  4. Read James 2:1-17. Why does partiality (aka discrimination) reveal a lack of true faith in Jesus Christ?

  5. The goal of the Christian life is “that you may be mature and complete” (James 1:4). What does Christian maturity look like in regards to mercy?

  6. Spiritual disciplines are habits that help mature and complete our character in the image of Christ. What habit might you need to adopt to receive Jesus’ mercy?

  7. What habit might you need to adopt to give Jesus’ mercy to others? Is there something you need to limit in order to free up time or resources to share?

  8. Close in prayer. Be specific about where you need help from God in receiving Jesus’ mercy and giving His mercy.
