Series: Kingdom of the Beloved Part 3: The Call to Mission
Scripture: Matthew 4:12-23
Preacher: Pastor Kent Vandervort
Message Reflection Questions
Begin with silent prayer to center your heart.
How is the Christian life like (or unlike) a mission trip?
Read Matthew 4:12-23. What does this tell you about God?
Define “the gospel.” Jesus’ “good news” was “The kingdom of Heaven has come.” He sent his disciples with the same message (Matt 10). How is this the message of the gospel?
What do you think could have been objections for the fishermen in following Jesus?
What are objections people give today to following Jesus?
Jesus “called” the disciples to follow him. Each Christian is called, given a vocation by God, to follow Jesus and do what he says. How can/do you follow God in your vocation/job?
What needs to adjust in your life to be a “fisher of people”?
Close in prayer.

Helpful Instructions for reading
Start with silence. Relax in God’s presence. Imagine resting with Jesus.
Thank God for something that happened in the last 24 hours.
Read the verses slowly. Ask:
What does this teach me about God?
What does this teach me about God’s kingdom?
What needs to adjust in me to live according to His kingdom?
Finish in prayer for yourself, your family, your neighbors, your co-workers, your church. Pray through the nations at www.prayercast.com/nations.html.
