Why Your Presence at the Welcome Bash matters, and more

Dear Family of God,

As God formed the community of the Israelites, he gave them a multitude of feasts. And while these feasts featured eating and fellowship, food and friendship were not the primary point. Each feast pointed back to a core part of the identity of the Israelite’s covenantal relationship with God. It was a sacred time set aside to remember God’s care, celebrate His provision, and renew their commitment to God and His way.

With that in mind, one of the most significant milestones in the life of Stillmeadow was the re-establishment of our work and partnership in the city through our York City Campus (nearly 20 years). Our Welcome Bash is one of our ways of remembering God’s care for us and our city and county, celebrating His provision of our church family and renewing our commitment to God’s call on us as a church.

That’s why your presence matters! You have a vital role in sharing the good news with our neighbors. So, come out on Sunday at 10AM to our Stillmeadow Lane Campus. Below you’ll find the basic schedule and 7 ways to prepare for the Welcome Bash.

Schedule (because some folks like to know!)

10AM Worship (Family Life Center)

11AM Baptisms (Family Life Center)

11:30AM Food Trucks, Bounce Houses, Kickball (Upper Parking Lot)

2:30PM Clean Up (Upper Parking Lot)

7 Ways to Prepare for the Bash on Sunday

  1. Pray for the unity of our church family, for those getting baptized, for the guests who will be with us, for our guest preacher Bryan Todd.

  2. Bring a gift card to Target, Kohls or Walmart to assist Guidance Counselors at Goode, Roundtown and Sinking Springs Elementary. You can put them in the offering baskets.

  3. Plan to introduce yourself to 2-5 people you do not know or recognize. Practice welcome! See if you can find folks not from your own service, group or campus.

  4. Invite your friends and family members that you’ve been praying for. Witnessing baptisms and hearing testimonies and sharing food together are all great ways for people to be exposed to the life changing good news of Jesus.

  5. Share your seat. Since we’ll be combining all three weekend services into one, it is likely that your regular chair will be occupied. Pretend the person in “your seat” is Jesus himself and treat them accordingly.

  6. Plan to stay after the service for fellowship. Bring money for lunch at the Food Trucks (Mr. Frosty, Smoke-n-Hogs, Taqueria El Camino, & Z&D Fries). We will have a tent with tables for eating together, but feel free to bring lawn chairs and blankets to cheer on the kickball teams.

  7. Pray. Did I say that already? Yes, but as Paul says, “Be faithful in prayer” (Rom 12:12). What’s wild to me is that Jesus prayed for unity in the church (John 17) and is right now praying for us (Hebrews 7:25, Romans 8:34). So, when we pray, we’re joining Him in the work that He is doing! And when we practice Christian unity in worship and fellowship, we’re living out His prayer!

One last thing: if you or someone you know is still interested in being baptized and haven’t signed up, we’d love to celebrate that. Please sign up at the button below. Just note: we’ll have a time of instruction at 9 before the service.

Pray with us

Let’s Pray for York Together This Summer

Let’s join our heads and hearts in prayer for York. Check out the daily prayer guide at the link below. Share your requests at the link below as well.

Let’s pray for our unsaved and lost neighbors and families

On Sunday, many church family members came to the altars and prayed for those who do not yet know the power and love of God personally. Let’s continue those prayers and pound heaven on their behalf. If you’d like to share the name of your loved one so we can pray with you, share it below.

Give with us

God has given each of us gifts for us to share. In addition to giving a regular tithe, consider helping with our Crisis Care Kits or Gift Cards for School Guidance Counselors.

Crisis Care Kits —One way the Church of the Nazarene supports people facing natural and humanitarian disasters is through Crisis Care Kits. These are little packs that help meet basic needs. If you’d like to help, you can build kits of your own and bring them into Stillmeadow. You can find the list and instructions HERE.

Gift Cards for School Guidance Counselors — Often schools and counseling offices help meet basic needs of their students by purchasing needed items. We’d like to show our support by collecting gift cards from Target, Walmart and Kohls for Guidance Counselors as they serve at Goode, Sinking Springs and Roundtown Elementary (the three closest elementary schools to our two campuses). Bring your gift cards to the Welcome Bash and put them in the offering!
