Important Information on next sermon series

Please read: Info on next Ignite sermon

Dear Stillmeadow Families,

We wanted to write and tell you about our new series our youth ministry is offering at our Tuesday night Ignite gathering April 2, April 9, April 16, and April 23.  This same topic will be discussed on Sunday mornings during Insight on April 7, April 14, April 21 and April 28.

Our four-week series is going to be called Sex is Spiritual. Our goal throughout this series is to teach God’s creative, healthy, and redemptive design for identity, sexuality and relationships. We hope to supplement and affirm what you already teach them about these issues at home, rather than to replace what you teach them.

We do not want sex to be a taboo subject at church when the rest of the world is talking about it and celebrating it in ways that God did not design.  We want to open the conversation so that the truth is shared in a safe, communal place where vulnerable conversations can happen.

  1. We will talk about how God created sex and how He created it to be good!  We will talk about how sex is spiritual, and that God created us for relationship. Pursuing a relationship with Christ is most important.

  2. We will talk about the difference between lust and love.

  3. We will talk about God's design for sex and the boundaries He gives us.  We will talk about the boundaries we can create for ourselves.

  4. We will talk about dating and starting over.

As your student’s youth pastor here is what I hope to help your students understand.

God isn’t against sex...He created it

God isn’t against teenagers...He created them

God isn’t against them having sex...but he wants them to wait for marriage

Sex is not for mature people

Sex is not for ready people

Sex is not for in-love people.

Sex is for married people.

Please join me in praying through this series that our youth would know their value as a child of God, be rooted in their identity in Christ, understand God's love for them in a deep way and recognize the healthy relationships He desires them to have.

Please feel free to discuss these topics with your child throughout the journey.  I will send the reflection questions each week so you can continue the conversation.  If you have any questions about this series, please feel free to call me (717-578-5685). If you would not like your child to be a part of this, please reach out to me to discuss an alternative!

With Hope!

Pastor Tabitha
